Art Lessons Designed Around the Student
Lessons are available privately, one-on-one, or in small groups. This allows students to receive focused instruction while working at a pace that supports their individual abilities and artistic interests.
All of the art forms taught by Alfredson Academy of Art can be explored in person or through live Zoom instruction, making classes accessible to students in Central Florida and across the country.
Drawing
Students can learn how to draw or continue developing their existing skills while working with pencil, colored pencil, markers, charcoal, and soft pastels. Lessons may focus on technique, observation, shading, composition, and personal creative expression.
Painting
Painting lessons introduce students to techniques using watercolors and acrylics. Students can experiment with different artistic styles while learning about color, brushwork, composition, and the creative process.
Mixed Media & Collage
Students can combine multiple mediums and materials to create layered, imaginative artwork. Mixed media and collage lessons encourage experimentation, creative problem-solving, and discovering new ways to communicate ideas visually.
Street Painting
Street painting is the centuries-old art of creating large murals directly on pavement or sidewalks using soft pastels, often called chalk. Leigh has completed more than 600 chalk drawings and has taught this unique art form in schools throughout Florida and across the country.
Clay
Using quick-dry clay that does not require kiln firing, students can create animals, relief sculptures, decorative pieces, and more while learning fundamental clay-building and sculpting techniques.
Sculpture & Assemblage
Students can create three-dimensional artwork using a variety of materials while learning about structure, physical balance, visual balance, and how individual objects can be combined into a unified work of art.
Art Lessons Via Zoom
Zoom lessons offer live, interactive instruction for students who prefer learning from home or who live outside the Sanford area.
Leigh began teaching Fine Art through Zoom during the pandemic and now works with students throughout the country. Students receive real-time demonstrations, feedback, instruction, and encouragement while creating from their own space.
